Black Land Matters

 This chapter focused on the injustice that the Black community faced when it comes to owning and working their own land. Even after overcoming multiple struggles to own the land for themselves they continued to face discrimination. I can see how this directly shaped how many black people are able to own their own land and why the land disparity is the way it is today. Its extremely saddening to me how black people were treated this way and then still expected to be able to live and make something of themselves despite the unfair treatment they received. Even after being able to buy their own land, many lost the land they worked hard to attain due to economic stressors, wealth disparities, food insecurity, and environmental injustice. I didn't realize that black farmers own less than 1% of the countries farm land. This is obviously the effects of systematic injustice trying to keep black people from owning and farming the land. It hard to say how we can begin to mend the damage done to the black community from this.
