Chapter 1

From what I understood from the reading is that the buffalo where a keystone species of the prairie. They moved as a herd and the indigenous people would follow as they moved. They would go to where the plants were green and plentiful water available while the area, they left behind would begin to regrow. To me this shows a beneficial relationship between all the organisms of the plains. Showing that by constantly moving and allowing the places already grazed behind to regrow and allow other plants to refill the gaps left behind they were guaranteed food. Furthermore, her would leave behind fertilizer (in the form of their waste) for the regrowth of their precious food source. In the end i found this process very intriguing and it is what regenerative agriculture is trying to mimic.

Chapter 4 and conclusion

I found reading about rotational swidden agriculture very intriguing. I had never even heard of this before, so it seemed very resourceful...
